A curriculum is not a prescription. It is much more than a list of things that teachers should teach – or that students should know and do.
A curriculum embodies the values, hopes, and aspirations of those who created it. It invites some kinds of teaching and discourages others. When developing resources to support a curriculum, it is important to recognise the underlying intent, not just the surface detail.
In 1993, we published The New Zealand Curriculum Framework for the Ministry of Education and, over the next few years, the subject-specific curriculum documents. More recently, we were contracted to shape and publish The New Zealand Curriculum and to publish Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, the curriculum for Māori-medium schools.
Given our in-house knowledge of curriculum, as well as our broad network of specialists, we are able to create and publish a wide variety of creative, curriculum-related resources for use in schools and other educational enterprises. We also provide businesses and government agencies with comprehensive, practical guidance on how to connect their work with specific curricula.
